Coming from a family of professional artists, Shyama grew up in the world of fine art, first exhibiting her work at the age of seven in London.

“ I remember being entranced by the pigments and palettes of colour at my exact eye level as I stood at the table in my fathers studio watching him mixing colours.”

 She recently described her work as  
 “A cocktail of William Morris, Mackintosh and Rousseau in an English meadow, with a splash of Klimpt and a squeeze of Jungle book.”
